The weather in Nagpur is entering a decisive transition phase this week. After a brief spell of unseasonal showers in early April, the city is now moving steadily back into its familiar summer pattern of dry skies, rising temperatures, and increasingly harsh afternoons.
The Next 7 Days: Heat Builds Quietly, Then Spikes
The coming week will feel deceptively stable at first. Days will remain largely sunny with temperatures hovering around 36°C to 37°C early in the week. But this stability doesn’t last long.
By the weekend, the shift becomes clear. Daytime highs begin pushing toward 40°C and beyond, with nights offering only limited relief, staying above 22°C to 23°C. There is little to no rainfall expected during this stretch, and humidity levels remain relatively low, making the heat feel sharp rather than sticky.
This is the kind of heat that doesn’t disrupt immediately but accumulates. Commutes get longer, afternoons become quieter, and outdoor activity starts shifting toward early mornings and late evenings.
The Turning Point: Mid-April Heat Surge
From around April 12 onward, Nagpur begins entering a more intense phase. Temperatures are expected to climb to 41°C to 43°C, marking the first sustained heatwave-like conditions of the season.
This is a familiar pattern for the city. April typically acts as the build-up month before May peaks, with average highs already around 40°C.
What stands out this year is the speed of escalation. The transition from mild early-April conditions to extreme heat is happening within days, not weeks.
The Rest of April: Dry, Harsh, and Relentless Weather
Looking beyond the next week, the broader trend for April remains clear:
Daytime temperatures: Consistently between 38°C and 44°C
Night temperatures: Gradually rising toward 27°C to 29°C
Rainfall: Minimal, with only occasional isolated activity
Sky conditions: Mostly clear, with occasional haze
Historically, April in Nagpur sees mostly sunny days with very limited rainfall, and 2026 appears to be following that script closely.
The shift is already visible across the city:
Roads begin to empty during peak afternoon hours
Two-wheeler commuters start adjusting travel times
Power demand rises as cooling usage increases
Outdoor work conditions become more demanding
The brief cooling effect from early April rain has already faded. What follows now is a steady, uninterrupted climb toward peak summer.
Nagpur is stepping into its core summer phase. The next 7 days mark the beginning, but the real intensity builds through the rest of April.
What starts as manageable heat this week will soon turn into the kind that defines daily routines across the city.
